I'm @ the point now with fissures & hemorrhoids that I'm going to purchase a Sitz Bath. Would like some advice as to what to use in the water, plain salt or is there something else that is better?

Hey Grant:

I used very very warm water with Epsom salts. It was quite soothing! Hope it gives you some relief...

Tks All, I've ordered one!! I had a nice bath today with half a cup of salt in & the relief is brilliant. Think I'll just pop some salt in the Sitz bath & let it do its magic.
I'd much rather go this route than constantly shoving medication up my back passage tbh.

Hi Grant, I agree very hot water and Epsom salts are best, it really helps close the fissures. Sit it in for as often and as long as you can for best results.

I know you mentioned no medicines, but I really like two OTC meds-Calmoseptine and Tucks. The Tucks prevent infection and the Calmoseptine is cooling and soothing, also dries out the abcesses/fissures.

 Oh just reading your post makes me cringe-it's sooo miserable. I feel for you Buddy! Hope you find relief and get to feeling better soon!

Tks Mountaingem, I cant wait for the sitz bath to arrive because the progress i've made in bathing daily with hot water & a small amount of salt is amazing. The relief is great, I will definitely try with epsom salts-how much do I need to use??

Well, I've always done it in the bathub, not purchased an actual sitz bath. But shallow water to my hips in a standard tub I would use a half cup, which was the most effective for me. Once you get your bath let us know how it works for you!

Feel better :)

I never bought a specific sitz bath (didn't even know you could! lol) I just use a plastic tub..
