I've had a perianal skin tag for almost two years now, at first it was no problem. The first time it started bleeding I got put on predisone, which made it stop bleeding until the last week or two waning off of it. I went through three or four cycles of that before getting moved to remaicaid every 6 weeks specifically for the skin tag (last time was the only time I was in a flare for the remaicaid) and moved off of mercaptopurine which had worked great for me for three years with no problem (I've been diagnosed 5 years). Remaicaid stopped the bleeding to at first for weeks, but the more remaicaids go by the less and less effective they get to the point where I don't stop bleeding. a few days ago before my most recent remaicaid I was bleeding so bad so frequently that id been almost to tired to move two days before, and slept through the vast majority of the two days. Anytime I tried to even sit up my vision would go black so I'd have to wait for it to clear before moving more until I was standing. My vision has been going black around the edges or completely a lot lately. My GI doctor said to definitely not remove it, but that was back closer to when it first started. Right now I use hydrocortisone and take iron 3 times daily (I was already anemic) and take sitz bathes as often as I can to try to help it but nothing seems to work much at all. (Have also gone to the pediatrician a ton to see if anything else would help have tried antibiotics and a bunch of creams and topicals with very limited success [also I'm 15]) Any advice/suggestions/input? I have no idea what to do

I think doctor is required,if your bleeding and unwell go to the doctor, quickly.all the best.
P.s pin your dr down about the skin tag

Are you sure the blood is coming from the skin tag? I have had a lot of problems with skin tags but never bleeding directly from them. I have had fissures around them which have bled. I second that you need to speak to your dr about the bleeding especially if you think it's getting worse and it's making your vision funny.
I have been told not to have my skin tags removed because it can lead to incontinence as the removal can damage the muscles. I have also read on the forum before of people having tags removed and after a while they come back. I am on cimzia now and although they are still there they aren't as painful as they have been before. For me I will only have them removed if I have to have a permanent ileostomy as I don't want to take the risk of potentially ending up in more pain and with added problems.

Positive alot of it is coming from the skin tags, but it also bleed a from other areas. I've had it looked at a lot and were also positive there's actually no fissures. And I feel like as far as treating it with drugs options are practically nonexistent specifically for the skin tag, remaicaid is the "Nuking it overkill" type of thing I can do. I was told that there's definitely nothing more aggressive or anything that might work better than remaicaid. That if anything was going to work its be that

My son has a skin tag and although it doesn't flare it can get irritated at times during his flares. We asked the GI and surgeon about removal and they basically said the same as above poster, the risk is high that you will affect the sphincter muscles which can lead to constant incontinence and other issues. It is not recommended to remove skin tags in those who have CD.
