I have a colonoscopy and upper GI scope scheduled for Friday. They just called and said my insurance denied the pre-certification for the upper GI. The colonoscopy is covered 100% (thank goodness).
The problem is that I work (as a business analyst) for a hospital corporation. My understanding was if I went to one of our hospitals, it would be covered 100%, but otherwise be covered 80%. But they're saying since there's one of our hospitals within the same distance with physicians able to do the upper GI, they won't cover my GI doing it at all. He's not affiliated with any of our hospitals, but I've been with him since before I had this job/insurance. I have no idea why they're covering the colonoscopy. I'm just so frustrated. I feel like something is wrong in my stomach and it's been 8 years since my only other upper GI. Now I may have to find a new GI (I LOVE mine and have been with him since the beginning) just so my damn procedures are covered. For now, we're going forward with just the colonoscopy on Friday. :mad2:
