in my stool sample faecal calprotectin came back high. Which signifies inflammation, anyone else had this result?

Also wants to do a 2nd camera this time a colonoscopy (previous was sigmoidoscopy) and an MRI of the gut so was also wondering if anyone had undergone either of these and could give some feedback on them?

Many Thanks

EDIT: Forgot to add along with faecal calprotectin being high my blood tests which were done on the same day, came back normal.

Hi. Have you been diagnosed?

We've all had those done. I had a colonoscopy last February. I think the prep is the hardest part. I have an ostomy so I actually don't need to do anything but go on clear fluids. Sedation isn't needed for me.

Yeh had to take prep for sigmoidoscopy. What happened was after sigmoid camera consultant said everything was all clear, perfectly fine dx'd with IBS. But as my calprotectin levels are more than slightly raised, I need another camera to look up into large bowel, and an MRI.

So Im unsure as to whether the consultant now thinks I may actually have an IBD not, IBS

Hi Rick

Did your consultant tell you what the level was?

I had my calprotectin done and it was 150. GI said it wasn't elevated enough to warrant colonoscopy. I've to repeat the test this month.

Hi he didnt give me the result, his words were "we need to get you in for an MRI and a colonoscopy as your results are certainly more than slightly raised"

He originally said i had IBS when i gave my stool sample in as my bloods were all normal. Stool sample seems to indicate otherwise
