Where do I start, I'm only new to this!
It's been quite a year so far, having lost my dad before Christmas life turned into a very stressful time, started suffering from diarrhoea from about new years onwards. Thinking it was only a dose and it would pass over I left it be. By St Patrick's day I had lost over two stone, started passing blood and immediately sought help from the doctor who eventually sent me to emergency.
A cat scan and a colonoscopy later, On the 2nd of may they had me diagnosed with crohns. I was told the stress of the previous months more than likely brought it on. At first I felt upset, at 24 years old I didn't think I'd get anything like this, but I took it on the chin eventually. Started out on predisolone, pentasa, and omeprazole to which I already started noticing improvements and had even put a little weight back on. I'm now being weaned off the pred and onto imuran, which not only do I hate (the side effects scare me), but started to feel slightly worse too.
I'm back for an MRI scan on the 23rd and again to see my consultant on the 26th so we'll see what happens there.
So the story begins. Thanks for getting that off my chest!
