I'm basically to the point that I hate going to my dr it seems like its always a new med and at a higher price it would be cheaper to just live like I don't have this disease and let it run its course!! My poor family suffer along with me cause of my mounting med bills and it sucks so bad!!!!! I wish that they had a cure for cd!!!! Hey praying maybe one day they will just one shoot and its all over wouldn't that be awesome!!

I really feel for everyone who struggles to pay the medical bills; putting treatment off because of finances.

Sorry, you got that many problems.

Just on the topic of meds, azathioprine costs approximately 20 bucks per month, vitamin D 2 bucks, iron supplements 6 bucks, and other supplements 5 bucks.

It is the steroids (that you should avoid at all costs, if possible) and the biologics which are the problem. Remicade will lose patent protection in Feb 2015 in the EU, which means the much cheaper Celltrion generic can be used starting then. Unfortunately in the US, J&J has patent protection until 2018.

meds are outrageously priced! cimzia was 1300 us dollars a month. thankfully im on disability which covers most meds. im sorry you have to go through that.

Hi Jison, what medications are you taking? The manufacturer of the drug may offer a discount plan. I get $50 off of my Nexium by printing off an online coupon and giving it to my pharmacist (it would be $75, but with the coupon it's only $25). And I know there's a program for Humira where you only pay $5 per dose. Check with the drug's manufacturer, see if they offer anything on their website as far as savings. You can also ask your doctor if they can give you any free samples of whatever meds you're taking - drug reps will often give doctors a lot of free samples to hand out, so that could help save you a few bucks too.

I still find it bizarre that the biggest and wealthiest economy in the world doesn't,t have an adequate national health system you really need to sort it.people who are unwell should not be worried about paying for medication to help them

welcome to the United States, where being sick can bankrupt a person. One of my close friends who also has a chronic illness use to work full time, bought herself a new car and the house of her dreams. Everything was going good, then she got sick. Well, now she sold her car, lost her house, and now had to move in to her parents house. All because of medical bills. I myself have spent thousands out of pocket for medical bills and medications. I mean you cannot walk into a hospital here without walking out with a $2000+ bill. I mean I have insurance, but I also have a $2,500 deductible. I wont run to the hospital unless I am like in so much pain that I think I am going to die if I don't go. I just do not have the luxury to just go to the ER. I also have to really contemplate whether a test is going to be useful or not. I mean here a standard CT scan can cost $5000. Insurance will pick up some of it, but usually not all. Here is hoping things here will eventually change for the better, but I am not holding my breath!
