I've been on prednisone since April 28th. My symptoms have settled down quite a bit now, and I've tapered down to 10 mg of the prednisone. However, I am still feeling just exhausted all of the time, even when I get more sleep. I feel like I have to stay busy just to keep awake. At home, I'm falling asleep on the couch by 9 pm. I'm at work right now, and all I want to do is lay my head down on this desk & go to sleep. Is that normal?

This disease takes a heavy toll on our body and drugs like pred make the burden heavier. Have you had your b12, iron, folate, d levels checked? You may also want to check your thyroid function. Those blood tests can see if it's a nutritional deficiency. If not it's just going to hopefully improve as you work towards remission.

Thanks for replying. I haven't had any of those levels checked. I see my GI on Tuesday, so I will be sure to mention it to him.

Yeah it is a shock and a battle between brain and body at first (wtf? Am out of breath from carrying shopping?) get doc to check your blood work as described by noguts. With help of prescribed calcium and iron it settled down, i readjusted and got some stamina back

I feel the same exhausted constantly 😴 my head feels fuzzy most of the time like I haven't slept at all! I had surgery in feb this year and still feeling this way now! Praying it gets better x

Buttercup,

Don't feel alone with your fatigue. I have been hospitalized 4 times since Feb and I am also fatigued constantly. Went to buy groceries yesterday and had to sit down on a stack of Cokes to catch my breath and gather myself.

Brain fog-- I've got that too. Very frustrating.
I think my biggest problem is the depression that Crohn's brings. Active Crohn's makes demands of us mentally and physically that take us at times to our limits and beyond.

Thank you for your post. It made me think for along time before posting here.

Peace
Miles

I was out of work for 3 months due to Crohn's. I finally went back a month ago, starting out at half days at first then back to full days. I too, have been very tired, especially since going back to work. If I don't take a 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon, I'm going to bed very early. I know fatigue can be a big part of Crohn's, so I'm just going with it right now and allowing my body to get used to my schedule again. When I'm back to sleeping all day long and only waking up to go to the bathroom, that's when I'll get worried.

Thank you for your comment! My depression is really bad at the moment and making my relationship with my husband bad which doesn't help!
Nice to know I'm not alone

I fear also that I am depressed. My wife of 38 years has announced she is leaving and going to "start a new life". Can't say as I blame her since the things we used to do together are no longer possible because my health keeps me semi confined.

I am not on psyche drugs at present so maybe I'll see a psychologist for an evaluation.

My real fear is that my life and health will not improve from here forward and I really cannot bear that thought.

My best to you Margaret and all you fellow Crohnies out there.

Peace,
Miles
