So I'm reading through my 4 page letter I got from being in the hospital and read over again what was found and I see Gastroenteritis.

So this is not colitis I see from reading wiki.
And this is why I have acute diarrhea.
I haven't heard my doctors talk about this with me yet.

Anyway a few things I discover I had this year
Ulcerative Colitis. Left sided.
Spondylolisthesis
Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia
Gastroenteritis

But anyway, what is everybody else going through and what meds you're taking for it?

The only meds I'm on is
Pentasa for colitis
folic acid for colitis and i guess anemia
Nexium I don't know lol
Cortenema for hemorrage

I think I have two GI doctors, I don't know whats going on. I'm off iron pills I guess. One doctor writes a prescription only for it to be written again and iron pills not on it by another. He said he wanted to speak with me and made an early appointment but wasn't there when I went.
The diet thing I'm working on.....

Do you see the same GI each time or do you see different GI doctors sometimes?????

Well, iron pills are available over the counter so they shouldn't have to prescribe them to you unless you need a really high dosage, so they may suggest you take them sometime in the near future.

I changed my GI in January because my last one had me only on Pentasa & Pred with which I wasn't getting better and he wasn't willing to put me on something else. So I changed doctor's and this one put me on Imuran, Lialda, & Pred (of course) and I now have flare ups when I drop the Prednisone to 15mg, so if it happens again he's going to change me over to Humira or Remicade. So this new GI is more proactive with my health care.

Yeah I would have to ask how much to take because a over dose of iron pills is really nasty.
I've been reading how people have problems trying to lower their prednisone. I stay away from it because I get those red acne bumps everywhere.

I think I remember hearing something about vitamin C or D and prednisone withdrawing on the radio. In NY, AM radio has a lot of talk radio on the weekends. one station has a vitamin talk show.
If you type 'prednisone vitamin c' in google click on the first link. You'll see Prednisone takes away vitamins from your system so you may want to look into it.

I'm currently not on any meds besides B12 and iron...yay! I do have to deal with Oscar though :) It's a trade off I suppose...but one that I'm more than willing to take.

One drug. Low Dose Naltrexone.

Quite a few supplements, and a few alternative treatments that have helped quite a lot.

Are your two GI's working at the same clinic? If so, I would think they should at least be on the same page when prescribing meds or tests. Even if they don't work together, I'd think they would have to consider your records before prescribing anything.

Ginger capsules, I never heard of them, I drink ginger tea once in awhile, I would have to look into getting the capsules.

Yes its the same clinic. Its just the iron pills that wasn't fill even through I told her I was still bleeding pretty heavy like before I had the blood transfusion. I guess the drugs has to be prescribe again if you see the doctor before getting the drugs.
