So Whatd You Get?

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

i got cystitis! :rof:

nicer pressies were perfume, money, new house phones, more money, chocs, and an angel ornament.

I got a food processer, new sneakers (those toning ones), a rice cooker and food steamer and a juicer for my bday (the 23rd)! I was spoiled this year, lol. Think they're trying to get me to eat? :ylol2:

I got a new car!!! (but I got it a few weeks ago) Guess hubby was tired of me complaining about my old piece of crap...other than that, I got serving platters, which I wanted to use to serve xmas dinner. Probably didn't really deserve anything else!!!

I got some clothes, a pair of Carhart bib overalls, a cover for my horse trailer, some other cool horse stufflike a flashing LED breast collar.....a couple puzzles, my Breyer Christmas horse, a couple bottles of wine......

Daughter got a bunch of toys - Disney Princess sets....puzzles, Zoobles, Squinkies, clothes.....

Hubby made the big haul - clothes, some kitchen stuff including a Calphalon 6 1/2 qt stock pot, a really versatile ladder (like a Little Giant one)...and the big pressie was a 2700 psi gasoline pressure washer!

I got a cold for xmas, courtesy of my 5 year-old niece. Bleh. Thanks for the sniffles and sore throat, kid. :(

Oh, and I also did get some good stuff. Hubby and I got a 12-cup rice cooker, a nice big chafing dish, a new white noise machine (we had an old one that was about to give up the ghost). I also got little stuff like microwaveable warm slippers, new gloves, and a banana carrying case (I always carry a banana in my purse in case I need a "safe" snack on the go, but they always get bruised up - not anymore!). :)

The big thing that we got for ourselves, we got a little bit early. We got a dog 2 weeks ago. We'd been wanting one for a few years and the right dog just sort of fell into our laps. She was perfect and she needed a home, so she's ours now. Even though we got her on the 14th, we call her our xmas dog. :)

I got a Nook Color (e-reader) from my kids and hubby! Woohoo! Although it took me several days to get it to hook up to our wi-fi (apparently a big problem for lots of people, according to the Barnes and Noble website)
I still absolutely adore regular books, but I will certainly love being able to read e-books too. My kids are quite in love with it as well, I guess they have a pretty big library of kids books available.
Also got some nice stuff like gift cards, a couple regular books and new shoes for work.

Cool gifts guys :)

I got a new blackhawks hockey jersey retro style too, a tv! (Im finally up to date with my tv), clothes, a bunch of money which I spent all of on boxing day, and then all the other little things.

I got a cool old Mustang..restoring a numbers matching '68 Mustang Shelby GT500. Found out it was a Shelby by looking up the VIN yesterday! The gentleman who sold it to me was unaware and it still runs but it does not have correct engine..I am going to get the 428 that it originally came with..I'm ordering everything to make it period correct and add newer resto mod items. One man's trash is another girl's treasure..it's amazing what people sell for dirt cheap. I got it for 5 grand running. Not a smart guy he could of sold it for much more.

Mustangs are fab! I, however, am afraid of driving in such a big city and happily have a taxi budget + bus tickets to get me through until I move back to small town.

My favourites this year were new sheets and a duvet cover set, just the softest towels... and a magic bean machine! You move the top up and down, and out pops one "random" Jelly Belly. :) Our family does Christmas lists, so while there is an element of surprise, we also know that we'll probably receive some things that we want or need, too.

I got a blanket with sleeves (since I'm going part time in Jan, my dad thought I'd be lounging around more than usual), some books, DS game, choccies and wine. For my main presents, I asked for money and vouchers because I need new clothes (thanks to piling on the weight, and I can't even blame the pred!).

You got a snuggie!! I really want one of those!

I got a load of books on furniture history and conservation science from my mum and dad (as it's what I'm studying). Also got some vouchers, a new scarf and gloves, a new calendar, and a book on baking and a set of piping nozzles from my fiance.....

I got engaged :) I also got a voucher for the Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls from my dad so we can take the kids to the waterpark for a weekend some time...tickets to the movies (I love those!), and lots of chocolate, cuz I'm not fat enough....lol

Hope everyone's Christmas was great! :)

We canceled gift giving this year cause most of us can't afford to buy stuff so I bought myself a jacket.

Congrats Cindy!!:thumleft: So happy for ya! I hope you and D are happy forever. You are both good for each other.

I got a Amethyst and diamonds Earring and Necklace set, so gorgeous! Lots of other goodies. I am doing well!!!

Cheers to all!!

Congrats on engagement nyx! Cool Christmas present haha.

Spent all my Christmas money on boxing day now too:

wall mount for tv, hdmi cable, xbox game, snowboard jacket, and tv season. All for 200 bucks :) I was quite suprised at my bargain hunting skills haha

Okay, I did not get anything ccol like a horse trailer (because I had to sell my horse a while ago) or a classic car or engaged, (woo-hoo Cindy) but my husband and I bought each other iPads this year. Love it! Also received from my husband matching serving pieces for my Christmas china. My favorite gift though was from my grand daughter...pink shoes!

Wow ya'll have gotten some really over the top stuff! My biggest things were a Kindle (love to read), an Instyler hair thing and Chamila Charms for my bracelet.

People should return their Kindles and Nooks and buy a Kobo (from Borders if you are the US), failing that download the app for your iPad or smart phone.
Unless you are in Canada then you should buy actual books (from Indigo, Chapters or Coles), specifically books from the computers, religion, cultural studies or lit crit departments.
Help fund my pay cheque, the book industry isn't doing as well as it was a few years back.

Nope, I'm an assistant buyer for Indigo. Kobo is an Indigo off shoot. The categories I mentioned are ones that I look after.

VonFunk, you buy for Indigo?!!! That is so so so cool!

ps: I have Kobo on iPad. And my mom said she nearly cried when she received an Indigo gift card (from yours truly) for Christmas.

And I really hope the industry picks up soon.

I've been with them for over 8 years, I started as part time help at a store and worked my way up the chain. Unfortunately the industry is moribund, it has matured and there is no more growth expected in the physical book. Which is why the selection of non-book product is expanding.
Half of my job is staring at the market data, it's a depressing sight at times, I've done it a lot over the past couple of weeks. But my job is safe as there are things that only I know how to do.
