Do your kids wake up with a stomach ache every day? Devynn has been telling me that her stomach is sore in the mornings a lot lately. We were talking this morning and she said that she wakes up with a stomach ache almost every morning. She said it goes away after a while, by mid morning. I'm going to email her NP. I just wish she could feel better all the time, instead of feeling ok. I can't imagine having a stomach ache every morning :( She said its not a bad pain, but its just there.
We went out for lunch today, because it was my sons 19th birthday. On the way home she didn't look good. She said her stomach hurt. I asked if she ate too much, but she said no. She didn't really eat anything that would usually bother her. I asked if she thought it was anything she ate and she said "No, its just from not eating at home... every time I eat anywhere but home I get a stomach ache" :(
Here are a few pics from today.

Edited to add.. The cotton candy was only for the pic. She took one bite and was done. She usually loves it.

Yes Jack is like that when he is flaring, stomach ache in the morning and then it goes away. He was like that for 6 months before diagnosis.

DS at one point had a stomach ache all day from morning to night every single day.
Hope things get better soon

Yep, same thing here. We sometimes have awful mornings, says she feels better a little after lunch, only to feel bad by dinner again. For A that signals the beginning of a flare. As it goes on she may be sick all day. Hopefully your GI gets things figured out before it gets to that point!

Thank you. I have been wondering the same thing and just hoping it would stop. Guess its time to call the GI :(

Same here. Stomach aches every day for over a year. Pain after most meals plus 15 lb weight loss. But cos we are stuck with this IBS diagnosis she just has to live with symptoms.

For a long while my son had abdo pain every night and most mornings. I hear you in wishing they could feel good all the time.

It is interesting that your daughter commented that her she gets stomach pain from not eating at home. My son seems to have this problem. Doesn't seem to matter where it is (restaurant or a friend's house) but if he eats away from home he almost always gets a stomach ache. This problem is slowly getting better but a pepperoni pizza sidelined him for 2 days last week.

We found out Devynn is lactose intolerant, so pizza usually makes her feel awful. The funny thing is, if we make it at home she's fine. She can also eat pizza buns from our local bun store without feeling bad. But she is the same way, she ends up with a stomach ache even if she has eaten at a friends house. She is going away this week with school (Tues-Thurs) and is nervous already.

Devyn'smom - Does she take Lactaid? My daughter can eat pizza if she takes some of the cheese off and takes Lactaid since she's also lactose intolerant. She doesn't eat pizza often but she likes to know that she can.

Maya, she won't even try lactaid pills. She said she takes too many pills and would rather deal with the gas etc.

Maybe if her doctor "orders" Lactaid...? Can't argue with the doc, right?

DS simply can't tolerate food for several hours after waking up. He doesn't call it a stomach ache, per se. Thank goodness lunch at school is at 10:15am. Could she be describing it as a stomach when it's really hunger? Or maybe stomach acids from the night just making her not feel good?

I hope she feels better soon.

I don't think so. She knows hunger and heartburn. She says its pains and cramps. She doesn't usually wake up hungry, but is ready to eat something before school. Thank you, I hope so too. She's going on a 3 day 2 night school trip tomorrow morning. I know she's a bit nervous about that too.

I hope Devynn had a good trip. Maybe it was just the trip coming up that made her sick. Jaedyn feels sick when she is dreading something coming up - even if she is looking forward to it... She is an anxious sort :)

She's home and had a great time. I asked how her stomach felt and she said fine. She's exhausted and sounds a little stuffy and has a HUGE bruise that she didn't show anyone because she was embarassed! (Its very close to her bum on her thigh)
