Starting Remicade next Wednesday supposedly, if all goes well with insurance. HOLLA! Praying that this works for me. Oh, and does the actual infusion hurt or is it just a standard IV? I think my fiance likes to push my buttons by scaring me and I never know if he is joking or not and he's like "ohhh it's gonna burn just like when you got your potassium IV". And no he's not a jerk, just likes to play on me being gullible, BUT if you have done it would you tell me if it hurts or not. Thanks, hope everyone is having a good day :)

It doesnt hurt at all. Ask for the benedryl in pill form instead of IV, because I heard IV benedryl can sting. Benedryl is a premed.

I started feeling better in 4 days. So it can work very quickly. It put me in remission fast. Good luck!!!

Doesn't hurt me either. I don't even feel anything past the initial needle insertion, which is just a quick pinch. Nothing like anesthesia IV - which burns like the fire of a thousand suns. Good luck, I hope it works well for you!

I'm fresh off of infusion #5 yesterday afternoon! If you can, try and get your IV in the back of your hand, makes it easier to read/function while you're there which can be up to 4 hours or so. Sure it picks a little but once it's in you're all set. My administer gives me tylenol along with a benedryl. Great advice from Lydia and benedryl in a pill form, much more tolerable then IV pushed. Another hint, after my first infusion, that evening I had a nasty headache, so maybe take another tylenol when you get home.

Good luck!

The infusion does not Hurt. I agree with Jefferson, have them put the IV in you hand. It is defiantly easier to have at least one free arm since my other arm is kind of stuck straight because of the blood pressure cuff. The times they put it by my elbow it about drove me nuts! Because one arm was stuck straight because of the blood pressure cuff, and the other arm you had to keep straight because of the IV. If I bent my arm, it would kink off the IV. So I don't let them go by my elbow anymore. I don't care where else they put it, but I don't want it right there!

thanks everyone! I got it today and all went fine. she did put it in my arm though so was hard to bend my arm. No reaction and hoping to feel better soon.
