So today at the GI i found out i was to be started on Azathioprine and I am a little confused as to what this drug is really for. I talked to my doctor and she tried to explain it but i was a bit confused as to what this is supposed to do for me exactly. Is anyone else on this/ does anyone know what exactly this is supposed to do for me? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you :3

Aza is an immunomodulator, i couldn't tell you the exact mechanism of how it works but i think it binds to something to stop a specific inflamatory response but someone else will be able to give you a better explanation. It usually takes about 2 months to start working, but I should note that iv been on it almost a month and already am feeling much better. Hope you feel well soon buddy.
