Steri-Strips - when do they fall off?

So it has been exactly 3 weeks since my ileocecal resection surgery. It was done laprascopic. All 4 of my steri-strips are still on. I was told they were supposed to fall off on their own and to not apply any water on them. So been avoiding any water on my stomach when showering. Everything online says they were supposed to fall off at most 2 weeks post-op. Seeing my surgeon next week for the follow-up.

How long did it take for them to fall off for you?
I was under the impression its better to have them fall off faster so you can clean the area to avoid infections and scarring.
