Still NOT being Treated.1 year later

Let me start by saying I'm at my lowest low since all of this S$&t started.
Crohn's was my DX in July. First GI looked at me first time we met and said you have IBS. Did a colonoscopy and only took one biopsy.i just found that out.
Then he left town, no POC. Second GI did an MRI said there was inflammation. Did a pill came and it was clean. So, IBS.
For the past year my life has been hell. I have NO quality of life.
My PCP reviewed my notes and said its obvious you have Crohn's. She sent me for exploratory surgery consult. The surgeon spent an hour with me. He reviewed my notes and tests done and said the GIs did not do there jobs. You don't need surgery, you need to be treated for Crohn's. He actually tossed the GIs notes on the floor. So now I have an appt for 5/22 . I have up to 4 accidents a day. I'm in severe pain which my PCP is treating me for. I have 3 cold sores and have never had one. I can't eat or drink or it is straight to the bathroom. I'm so frustrated. I need help. Why isn't anyone other than my PCP helpîng. She can't treat Crohn's or she said she would. My family is suffering as well. I'm bawling for the first time in a while. I have over a month before I'm even seen.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with GI docs – it took me a while to find GI that listens to me and works with me to address all my issues. If you are in pain – go to ER. Look up doctor directory on this web site for GI in your area, seek out your local CCFA - google Crohn's & Colitis Community on the web - its a great resource.

I don't see why your PCP can't at least give you mesalamine or prednisone since that is probably what the GI is going to start you on anyway.

You know, I bet she would. She mentioned when I saw her for my sinus infection that I was better on prednisone. I was on it for a spider bite. She said the GIs should have noticed that. I can ask her.

Hey sorry you're suffering, I would definitely try get some pred to calm things down, I'd also call up the GI's office and say you need to get in earlier it's urgent, tell them to call you as soon as they have a cancelation (that's what I did- I woulda had to wait sooo long otherwise). Hope you feel better soon

So sorry you are suffering Laura. I agree, maybe call your regular doctor and see if you can get some prednisone to at least start on. It is so frustrating that these doctors just seem so clueless sometimes. Have you ever tried immodium for diarrhea? There has got to be something you can take to help. Is there anyway you can call the GI's office to try and get in sooner. I mean maybe try crying on the phone, tell them you desperately need help and you don't want to wait until 5/22.
