still pain after resection

My husband is over 3 months out from having 10 inches of his terminal illium removed and his IC valve. He was dx with Crohns last sept.Had a very bad stricture. We knew it would not cure the disease, but should he still be having sharp pains? He does not have them all the time, but seems like it is every day. He has the bad D under control with Questran, and has given up dairy and most fats, does not eat out any more and never eats processed foods. Another problem he has been having is feeling unstable and dizzy. I am thinking he needs more salt in his diet. He is thinking of taking salt pills. He has been taking Pentasa for a while and is taking supplaments of Vit B12, iron, folic acid, vit D and Tums. Are these pains just what he needs to put up with?? His GI doc says as long as his sed rate stays normal he will be ok.

No sharp pain, unstable and dizzy is NOT right.... something is going on there and I think you need to convince him to see a doctor ASAP - I could be WAY over-reacting - but this is how my brother started before they finally found an abcess off his intestine.....

I don't mean to be scary - but PLEASE take him to the doc....!!!

Ileum and B12

The ileum is where B12 is absorbed!! If your husband is taking a "pill" form - you are wasting some money as the ileum absorbs liquids-not solids and most of the pill will pass un-utilized. Take a liquid form of B12. My proximal ileum was resected and I take the liquid 3x a day. Warning: It tastes YUCKY.
