I am going to have a surgery, colostomy of ileostomy, not sure yet which one, if my sigmoid colon is badly inflammed they propaply do a ileostomy because my surgeon don't want to do colostomy from my transversum colon because the stoma would be so up in the stomach that it would be uncomfortable.

Anyhow, i was just wondering is there anyone else who have fat "corhn's belly" and stoma? Is it someway different of uncomfotable than if you don't have fat on your belly? My surgery is in August so i have little time to lose some weight (yep, easily said than done).

Any experiences?

I was pretty chubby from Pred when my Stoma was installed.
I've since dropped 15 kilos - but still have reasonably chubby tummy.
The biggest hassle I have in relation to this is that my two piece system sticks out a little more than I would like - which makes me look even more chubby!
The angle also means the top latch can get caught on things - with the potential to rip the whole rig off.
This has happened.
But I can look back and laugh.

Hi,
I got the Crohn's belly and a Stoma. Look I'd probably rather lose the belly, not the Stoma. Just doesn't want to budge. I had to find a system that worked for me, as we all do, but have no problems now.
Hope your surgery goes well
Janette

yep, I also have a fat tummy. It causes no problems with the stoma as the stoma is on a bit that doesn't crease. I think that is the main thing to be sure of, that the stoma is not placed where your tummy creases.
Mine probably does stick out more because of my fat tummy, but its so fat it probably doesn't matter. :)
All the best with your surgery and let us know how you get on.

Thanks everyone! I am overweight and my tummy is very hard and round, like many crohnies i have met :D Propaply it's prednison and gut's being swollen.

Anyway, i thought that would make it somekind of harder to have stoma if you have big stomach. I try to lose some weight coz my surgery is in august.

Thanks :ghug:
