Over the past couple months my stoma seems to have grown. It is now about 3x longer than it was after my procedure in 2011. It is also sort of hanging downwards and rubs on the wafer and causes serious discomfort by the end of the day. I haven't noticed any large amounts of blood at any time throughout this. Also on most days it has small red spot all over it. Could this be my Crohn's flaring up?

Hi and welcome.

If you have a stoma nurse give her s call. If not, call the doctor. It's worth getting checked.
The spots could be from a flair or irritation.

Sending you my support.

Your stoma may be prolapsing, that's what it sounds like to me anyway. This is not usually a serious problem, my stoma is massively prolapsed most of the time now, it hangs down about 15cm, except for a few times a day when it briefly retracts and disappears completely. It can present problems when getting bags to fit, however.

I would Google images of prolapsed stomas and see if this looks like what yours is doing. And ask your stoma nurses what they think and how to stop the rubbing. If it's something other than a prolapse, your stoma nurses are the best people to ask.
