May have to have 3 cm removed from small intestine (new Crohn's flare after 25 years) due to abscesses, fistulas, etc., in the terminal ileum. This will be my 3rd revision. Would like to hear from anyone who has had a similar procedure done recently. How long was your hospital stay, how was the healing, any problems with scar tissue, etc. Thanks.

Hey. I just had it done in May. Easiest surgery I've ever had. Surgeon didn't need to open me right up. Just cut around the stoma. Minimal pain after. Went in on Monday home Thursday. Hope yours goes just as smooth.

Good to hear that your surgery went so well. However, my surgeon and the GI docs say I have to have the stoma moved to the other side. Did they tell you that also and after getting in there decided that they didn't have to move your stoma? Confused.

Sometimes they can manage keeping the stoma at the same place. Prior to surgery I was told there was not much chance that it would happen in my case because the skin around the stoma would have been weakened too much by the numerous fistula I had. Therefore they moved the site to the other side but in certain occasion they can manage keeping it in the initial emplacement.

I had to have it moved years ago. It was a bigger surgery than the last one but I came through that one pretty good. This past surgery there was no talk of moving it.
