Calling the Gi this morning
DS is rating pain 8-9
Stomach pain better when laying down
Much worse when sitting up
Ideas ????

Not sure? C was the same way though for a time during a flare last year. He said it hurt more to be seated than to lay down. I hope you find some answers and relief for DS soon! HUGS!

Here's an idea.............
What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Pericarditis?

The most common sign of acute pericarditis is sharp, stabbing chest pain. The pain usually comes on quickly. It often is felt in the middle or left side of the chest or over the front of the chest. You also may feel pain in one or both shoulders, the neck, back, and abdomen.

The pain tends to ease when you sit up and lean forward. Lying down and deep breathing worsens it. For some people, the pain feels like a dull ache or pressure in the chest.
The chest pain also may feel like pain from a heart attack. If you have chest pain, you should call 9–1–1 right away, as you may be having a heart attack.

Some people with acute pericarditis develop a fever. Other symptoms are weakness, palpitations, trouble breathing, and coughing. (Palpitations are feelings that your heart is skipping a beat, fluttering, or beating too hard or too fast.)

The most common symptom of chronic pericarditis is chest pain. Chronic pericarditis also often causes tiredness, coughing, and shortness of breath. Severe cases of chronic pericarditis can lead to swelling in the stomach and legs and hypotension (low blood pressure).

No chest pain
He says the pain gets worse the longer he is sitting up right .
He is sleeping on his stomach now .

Hope it's something that can be treated quickly. As far as lying down/sitting up... is he constipated? I'm thinking that his entire abdomen/stomach/GI tract would have more space when lying down; when sitting, everything is probably a bit 'tighter' (for lack of a better word).

Good to hear he being seen mlp. :ghug:

I know some things eased by sitting up, like when Sarah was at her worst she couldn’t lay down comfortably so that would have been peritonitis/pancreas type issues. But then other types of abdo pain she has had she has felt the need to lay down and stretch out to ease it.

I know I have had issues in the past when I have taken long road trips and have had awful cramping and abdo pain after I reach the destination. I assume it must be gas?? And the only way I get relief is to lay on the floor and stretch out.

I hope you get answers today and they aren’t difficult ones. Good luck with it all!

Gi feels its from the NSAID ( mobic).
Plan is to watch if it gets worse then stool samples .
If lab numbers are off stool samples .
Hoping it clears on its own soon otherwise call.

All in all a good plan .
DS was able to walk around eat a little and keep down peptamen .
He is feeling better than this am but still not close to baseline .

Thanks for the update mlp. :)

I’m sorry the Mobic has been a no go. :( Any other ideas there to treat the pain?

Sending much luck and healing thoughts that your lad continues to feel better and no additional tests or calls are needed.

M uses Voltaren gel when she's taking a break from Mobic because of stomach issues. It might be a bit more complicated to put on his hands.
Your poor boy. Hope he feels better soon.
