stomach ct scan what does it involve

does anyone know what a stomach ct scan involves, would i be drinking something again or is it just a set of xray of the stomach? thanks...

Usually they have you drink a contrast drink, and a lot of times they'll put an IV in to inject dye into your vein as well. Then they put you into a machine that looks like a big ring and they tell you to hold your breath, and when to breathe. It's not so bad!

The worst part is the stuff you have to drink, but not bad at all. The dye stuff in the IV made me feel like I was peeing myself!

There is NO getting used to the IV contrast!!

The worst part of the scan is the mild glowing that comes afterward..:ylol: And the hot microwaved meal... that you just took from the freezer!:sign0085:

the feeling with the iv is weird. I felt like i could feel it going around my veins. Contrast is also special all unto itself. the place i went was awful, lots of screaming and angry people who don't speak english (a common brooklyn doctor office experience). But the test itself really wasn't so bad, once you are aware of what is going on.

the nurse called me today and told me that i have to drink this iodine drink before the procedure. this is gonna be fun.. not..

Hope it goes ok for you. When I had my CT scan they made me have that drink. I drank two litres of the stuff cos they left it there for me whilst I waited to go in and told me to "drink as much as I can".
When they came back to call me in, the nurse said I needn't have to have had the whole two litres! Ooops! Check how much of the stuff you need to actually drink and don't drink anymore than you really need to. I had to sit in the waiting room an hour before going in with the drink so take a good book or something to keep you occupied. Good luck

nothing is fun about contrast, but is survivable . I refuse it now, but i have tried it twice. which seemed reasonable to both me and my doc.

i have 3 bottles of that iodine to drink tomm before the test, it looks real gross.

Yea it's pretty milky and suspicious looking It goes down quick and you can't taste it too much if it's cold.

Me too. Mine started within a few hours of having the drink. I'd just had a colonoscopy a week before-it felt like a repeat of the prep all over again!

i am on bottle number 3 drinking this stuff and allready feeling like i am going to have diarrhea. this stuff goes thru you fast. my appt is at 11 and its only 10 and feeling like crap drinking this stuff.. i will be in the bathroom all day long after this.. sigh..
