Stomach Sensitivity After Surgery

Its been almost 6 weeks since my resection and temporary illiostomy. Since then, I have had three bouts of severe upset stomach that put me in bed for a day or more. Of those three occasions, I have had two bouts of extreme D that landed me in the infusion clinic for several IV infusions. If I called my surgeon instead of GI doctor, I would have been admitted for observation and fluids. I don't know if this is due to a slow recovery, food poisoning, or what. Has anyone else had a similar experience after surgery? If so, how long did it take to go away?

Oh Dan! So sorry about your issues. NO! I didnt have that issue. Food tasted odd, but no sickness. Although everyone around me had vomitting, mostly due to morphine and pain killers.

something doesnt sound right! Hope you get to the bottom of this very soon with your GI!

My issues were a week after my surgery and went away once the infection was under control which took about one day of hospital crazy fun at two different hospitals.

Could be a slow recovery but could also be an infection starting to form. I hope you get it checked out and figured out soon.

The docs have run a few tests and have found no infections or other problems. I just guess my stoma, a.k.a. Mr President (annoying, full of crap, and thankfully temporary), just doesn't like me.
