Hey,

I am new to this forum, and was wondering if anyone has the same conditions as me. Currently the Crohn's resides in my stomach ulcers which were found about 3 years ago. I had a colonoscopy when first diagnosed but they were unable to see all the way through. So he perscribed me with Asocol. That did not go over well, and infact made my flare ups much worse. Then I had a scope done into my stomach because I was having terrible chest pains and burning. They later found a bunch of bleeding ulcers in my stomach and took biopsies of them. My doctor told me they were positive with Crohn's disease. He then stopped the Asocol and put me on Pentasa. I didn't really see much of a difference, but mostly because I had such a hard time taking the pills. They were much too big and always getting stuck in my throat because of the texture. I just couldn't get passed that. So I decided at one point that I didn't need medication, except for the Pantaprazole to help with the acid buildup.

Now I am reconsidering my options. I am having frequent bouts of blood in or with my stool, and am tired of having flare ups. If you are in the same situation, what are you taking and how has it helped?

Thank you for your time.

HI there :bigwave: welcome to the forum. Not many people have the exact same problem you have but I have a hiatus hernia and Crohns can be from mouth to Anus. Ulcers can appear anywhere. The bleeding is not good. Asacal and pentasa are very mild medications most times it doesnt help alone but you could add another mild to mod medication. Acidcontrol meds can rob your body of calcium so be up on your intakeof Calcium and Vitamin d3.

What colour is your blood? Many people to help you here hope you join our community.

thanks for your reply. The blood is very red, and often times its in with the stool. So i'm assuming it's tissue or something. My case is pretty mild. I don't have constant pain or suffering like others, but I do have pretty bad flare ups some times.
I am just unsure of my options and searching the web often doesn't bring up much answers to my questions.

Hi, I'm not in exactly the same position as you but I have a stomach ulcer related to Crohn's at the moment too. I haven't had much pain with but it had been bleeding quite a bit. Doctor put me on Tranexamic Acid 4 weeks ago to help stop blood clots around the ulcer from breaking down (which apparently helps the healing process) and I haven't had any blood for 3 weeks. Also on Omeprazole to help heal the ulcer but I know that it doesn't suit everyone.

Yeah please do go see somebody. My Crohn's is worse because I was on the wrong medication (asacol) for 2 years.

Asacol only targets one region of your bowels and that's why when your doctor found the ulcers in your stomach he switched drugs because Asacol wouldn't work for stomach ulcers. My first doctor never did an upper end scope or even into the small intestine which as a matter of fact is really heavily affected and when left untreated it really can get worse, I'm now typing this from my Remicade infusion which would have likely never been needed if I was treated properly in the first place, this according to my 2nd doctor.
