Colonoscopy today, a very challenging procedure says the Dr.
Over an hour from start to finish. He got to the Astmosis & sure enough the bane of my life- another stricture. Very small about 4mm diameter. Crohns seen right the way through the procedure.
It wasn't dilated sadly maybe because its just too small. Huge amounts of Gas & Air used, that plus pain killer & sedation which seemed very slight left me as high as a kite. :)
Next step is either weekly Humira or fortnightly plus Methetrexate. :(
Bit fed up but such is life, going by some on here I'm getting away lightly.

An hour?? Oh man, that seems like a marathon - is it normal to be that long? Sorry to hear about another stricture - you are sounding very philosophical about it all :) Sincerely hoping that the new drug regimen will stop it from getting any worse.

Thanks Grumbletum, usually takes about 25mins. But apparently I had "loops" & I've also got adhesions. He had me on my back rh side lh side & on my ft. At one point I was on my back with a nurse squashing down on my abdomen. So I thought sod it & milked the gas & air-ha ha.:ycool:
This site has been a real eye opener for me, I make no bones when I joined about a month ago my chin was on the floor but having seen others trials & tribulations (Welshy) I've given myself a bit of a slap!
Strictures-well been there so many times, kind of knew something was up. But Dr is excellent, really nice guy who I seemed to have hit it off with. Knew he wanted to get right around to the terminal ileum & told him that no matter how much I moaned please do it. He did & I'm extremely grateful he did so I know where I stand.
He also confirmed I have another fissure on my butt :ymad:

Hi, I was curious how the Azathioprine and Methetrexate helped? I have had 4 illesectomies and now they are saying I need a 5th. I was on Remicade for 10 years. Switch to Humira 8 months ago and bumped it to weekly 3 months ago. My current GI says surgery and a second GI wants to add these drugs on top of th Humira and Prednisone before turning to surgery. I want to try the meds and hopefully avoid surgery but I am also getting to the point where I am sick of all these meds and just want the 3 inch section out. I have to take Norco, Lorazepam, Gabapentin, Zanaflex, Marinnol, and Zofran just to get thru the day! :ymad:

Diagnosed 1996
Feb 1996 Illesectomy (15 inch) and appendix
May 2006 illisectomy (9 inch)
July 2006 Illesectomy (6 inch), gall baldder
Jan 2015 illesectomy (3 inch)

Hi Sliced & Diced. Both are Immuno Suppressants. I've been on both, Aza was on its way to destroying my white cells so I had to stop but others get on very well with it. Methotrexate just made me feel queasy & sick almost all the time.

Thanks for the quick reply! They just sent the scripts to the pharmancy so I will try them tonight. I hope it works, I am not ready for a 5th surgery. Recovery time is long and sucks!

Hope you have been well and been able to fins some stability in this life of hell called IBS.

Good luck SlicedAndDiced. I hope things go well for you & this helps you avoid another surgery.

Here's hoping humira works for you. I have been on remicade for 9 years and it was the only thing that has ever really worked to stop my stricturing. I am at 6 surgeries already for crohn's, 0 in the 9 years since I have started remicade.

Thanks, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be because I keep having the same issues as when on Remicade. They are talking about maybe switching me to Entivio or some new one that starts with an O I think. If these add on meds don't do the trick I am assuming I will be switching. At first I thought it was working, was feeling pretty good, then I hit a wall and just crashed again. Crohns can be a very difficult and debilitating disease when it's active and want to take you down. I had 9 years of remission from 1996 to 2005, haven't been the same since, wish I could get back to those good ole days!

I agree.
