Welp, I have many things to post including details of my recent surgery experience etc.. But at the top of the list is: no more prednisone!

I tapered down the 5mg in the hospital, two weeks later down to 2.5 (the larger quarter of my 10mg pills), then a week later to the smaller quarter and off three days later!

It has been 5 or 6 days since and I'm feeling amazing.

I will never take that again. I would consider MM before I take prednisone EVER again.

Why? Because when I missed a pill or the nurses in the hospital forgot, 6 to 8 hours later I would be in pain. It would take me an hour to figure out why the sudden onset of pain - withdrawal!

Back to normal with my usual cockiness ;-)

Stay strong to those on it and taper, taper, taper!

That's great to hear! I was on prednisone about 7 years ago and the side effects were almost too much to bear. I've been on Entocort as of late and I'm having a difficult time tapering off without my symptoms returning.

It's great reading the success stories from people like you. Means there's a chance for all of us:)

Keep feeling great!!

I have crohns and have told all my doctors I will never ever take prednisone again! Glad to hear you got off okay. I was a full year before I lost the weight, mood swings and fatigue.

I thought I liked prednisone at first. What I didn't know was that I would continue getting new side effects, and that the ones I had would continue to worsen, many weeks into treatment. I'd assumed that after a couple of weeks, when I was feeling quite good, it was going to stay that way. The anxiety and restlessness and insomnia were the worst.

Have you not had any withdrawal symptoms since coming off it completely?

I'm currently tapering, down to 8mg from 50mg and doing good :D

The side effects have been pretty awful at times but the pain relief I've had beats it every time.
