Suggestions for making food more palatable

I was only diagnosed a year ago and have since then been juggling traveling with trying to get my symptoms under control.
I am currently away (and having a flare up!) and want to wait get back to my regular specialist before doing any medical intervention.
So I am trying very hard to eat plain foods that are okay during a flare up; eggs, oily fish, bananas, white rice, white pasta, white bread, yogurt, oats, etc.
My problem is that the thought of eating more of these plain food is making me nauseous!! Does anyone have any suggestions for flavoring foods with tolerable food?! (Eg Pesto???)

Being new to the game I don't know what foods work for me and don't so I am trying to get as much info as possible to hopefully get thibgs under control a bit with diet.
 
Salt and herbs or spices should be safe and really help liven up the food. Maple syrup, honey for breakfast options.
