So, this is a long story, but I'll try to keep it short.
I am 22 and up until an emergency appendectomy in October 2010, I was a perfectly healthy and normal young adult. After the appendectomy, I contracted MRSA, which took 6 months to clear up (after having three separate lesions). But that was the least of my problems.
For the past year and a half, I have had a fever every day (generally low grade, but with definite spikes). I have had terrible fatigue. I cannot seem to fight infections and have had bronchitis around ten times, pneumonia twice (once before and then once after getting the vaccination), pertussis once (bad enough to break two ribs and this was a year after getting the vaccination for this), chronic acute mono, the flu twice, and just feeling sick and tired in between. I now have random, massive bruises all over my body. I also gained 20-25 pounds in three months and it previously took a miracle for me to gain even a single pound.
I have bounced around from specialist to specialist trying to figure out what is wrong with me. The thyroid levels were normal a few months ago, so they've ruled that out. I have a low subclass of IgG (subclass 4), but all of my other antibodies were in the normal range (low, but still normal) and my chest CT scan showed nothing.
As you've read this, I'm sure you've noticed that not once have I mentioned any sort of intestinal issues. I've not had a single one! But, today my doctor called and said I had an elevated antibody level that was indicative of Crohn's Disease and now she's sending me to a GI specialist. In all the research I've done, I can't find anything that says that you can have Crohn's Disease without GI symptoms of any sort and all sorts of immune problems.
If anyone out there has had the same situation or has any answer or advice that could lead me in the right direction, I will be forever grateful. I am lost and so beyond frustrated by all this.
Thanks in advance for anything anyone can offer.
