Hi! I had a right hemicolectomy yesterday and a little less than 2 feet of my colon was removed. The surgeon doesnt think any of the colon was cancerous. Pathology will tell that for certain though. I had to have a key-hole incision, in addition to the laproscopic incisions, so they could work with the arteries better and the surgeon wanted to look at the rest of my intestines. I'm glad I had the epidural, because the anesthesia has worn off and I can feel the pain more now. I have a pain pump for the epidural and a pain pump that goes into my IV.
I'm grateful there doesn't seem to be inflammation anywhere else and the inflammation had not gotten into other organs nearby as the surgeon thought it might have.
The nausea seems to be getting better, but I haven't had my liquid diet yet today. I cannot stand being nauseous! I don't know yet how long I'll be in the hospital, but I know a minimum of three days. So now just waiting and resting and the real adventure of food begins.
