Tomorrow I will be operated, they will place a tenporery stoma and then they will start with the resection of the abscess and fistula tracts. The abscesses and fistula tracts are all peri-anal. They will leave an wound vaac so healing process will speed up.

I have been sick for more then a year now, cant sit, walk or live a normal life. Been on 50 mg of oxynorm for 9 months and doesnt really help against the pain.

Crazy thing is that I am really affraid for the operation specially the stoma for me is a big thing. The whole idea of cutting in healthy tissue (my colon and small intestine are bith healthy) and than having this peace of colon sticking out of my belly disgusts me. I truly hate this disease a gift that has given to me 20 years ago, still no cure for!

So anyone any tips on how to go true this operation?

I had surgery last year and got a stoma. Really freaked me out when i woke up and saw it. After the first month it was no big deal. The first month is the hardest. Just come back for advice from the forum and your nurses and you will be ok

Awww-just remember how you will feel so much better after the surgical pain goes away. It helps me to relax...

I also had surgery and didn't know I was going to have a stoma, and when I woke up and saw it I was freaked out but after a few weeks it was all ok and almost nornal to me. You wil be fine and the up-side of having this is you can eat whatever you want with no problums. At leaset thats the way it was for me. Good luck.
