surgery update

I posted about a month ago scared because I was getting ready to go in and let the doc remove parts of me! The surgery went well, they ended up removing 15cm of my small intestine and the entire right side of my colon. The CT that I got showed some inflammation but when they actually got in there they found more than they were expecting! There was a lot of scaring and rock hard areas...ugh no wonder I wasn't feeling so hot! Oh and they removed my appendix, guess that was looking inflamed as well... I only spent 3 days in the hospital and I have been home for 2 weeks now! I am feeling great, eating once again and enjoying the holidays. Sure I still have some pain from the surgery but its very manageable and not as bad as the pain from the flare I was having!

I`am glad your doing well,
when i had my re-section,my appendix was removed as well !
I asked the surgeon if there was anything wrong with it,his reply was no, it just gives more room to operate !

Hi glad your doing well I had surgery 5 weeks ago and also feeling good, eating pretty much everything now (except lettuce!!) and no real problems. hope you continue to improve

oh and my appendix was removed also I think that seems to be the case in most resections.

I think they remove the appendix because it is attached to the cecum, so if they have to remove the cecum (which I think they do if they are removing the terminal ileum and IC valve), the appendix goes with it. At least I think.

My resection in 8 days!!!!

SF - You are correct. It's right in the middle of the plumbing. Plus the docs don't think it has any value, except to get infected at some other point. But, there is some new thinking on that:

I say, who needs it! In fact, just take my whole colon.
