Has anyone had this happen? I have swelling on one side of the labia, not painful. I have had a Ct scan , an MRI scan and a CT enterography. After all these scans I was sent to Cleveland Clinic where they did exploratory surgery, assuming they would find a rectal vaginal fistula. They placed a drain tube that was horrendously painful and left it in for 6 weeks. It did nothing, except cost a small fortune. The Dr. knows something is wrong, but they have now referred me to a uro-gynecologist. I am wanting to go to graduate school and everything is on hold until we get this under control.

One other question if you don't mind. I had surgery years ago and had 20 inches removed along with the illeol cecal valve. I have diarrhea non stop anytime I eat something. It is like the stomach has to make room for new food coming in. I take the drug colestid for binding, but this causes lots of gas, so embarrassing. I am also on 6mp and cimzia. Does anyone have any suggestions to either of these dilemmas?

I've heard of the swelling mentioned on the forum before and not too long ago. Have you used the search option to see if you could find any other thread or posts concerning enlarged labia? The word "swelling" probably brings up a lot of threads that have nothing to do with your issue.

As far as the constant diarrhea goes, I had that as well and my GI thought it was because of the surgery (I only had 8 inches removed but that included the illeol cecal valve as well). He said I'll likely never have formed stools. Since switching to Humira, I've already had a few fully formed stools and I've only done the loading doses. I had been on 6MP for years. There's a blood test that checks to see if 6MP is in therapeutic levels for you. If you haven't been tested yet, I'd suggest you ask your doctor to run the blood test. This way you'll know if the 6MP is doing anything or ever will. Sounds more likely that you may not be on the right meds.

Hi Amy,

Sorry to hear all that you are going through. It sounds as though you could have some type of edema going on - do you any swelling elsewhere?

Is it draining any fluids - or just swollen? Are you having any fevers?

For the runny tummy, ask your doctor to write you a prescription for Lomodil - and stop taking that other stuff. It is not working for you. Instead take some Lomodil, and drink some Metamucil every day.

Hi,

I take the lomotil everyday along with Welchol which is used for binding. This combination of drugs caused a lot of gas at night, to the point I did not want to go anywhere, because it is so embarrassing. I did have a breath test to measure bacterial overgrowth which I was taking anti-biotics for. I swear this disease is giving me a run for my mental health. Some days I gets the better of me.

Hi there,
I just wanted to say hi, and let you know maybe you are just like me, after my first resection I never again had a formed stool, always waterery, my GI said it happens to some people. But I do know that some food makes it worse.
So maybe it's just your body........and that's ok :)
