:canada_flag:I have crohn's had several abscesses in the past 6 years. Last one was the worst, 8 cm. Had 500 ml drained. I am currently waiting for surgery to remove my TI and appendix. I am Canadian so the wait list can be long. have been waiting for 6 mos. I had a CT scan last week and my doc just called yesterday and told me I have two cysts on my ovary and a swollen fallopian tube. I am going for another scan next week and am on the fast track to surgery. Am currently taking antibiotics and Prednisone. My question: has anybody else had infection in fallopian tubes due to abscess from crohn's? I was not expecting to get that news. I had been having increased pain as of late and assumed I had another abscess. I am 44, and had one child. I never had any problems with my GYN ever in my life. Kind of scary. Thanks for your help.:canada_flag:

if you do a search in the Female/Gyn forum, you may be able to find answers. If not, have you tried to discuss these issues with your GI and Gyn or asked them if they have Crohn's patients similar to you that you can talk to for support??

I've had cysts on both ovaries as well and many tiny fibroids. I am now in complete menopause at age 44 so I was told that the fibroids will shrink as well as the cysts due to no more hormones feeding them so they get bigger.

Females issues are common with women who still have their periods because it causes "hormonal flares" when there is a shift in estrogen getting low and progesterone going high. Their guts become extremely painful, crampy, and even get spasmatic so their GI's put them on Bentyl, a narcotic pain reliever because anti-inflammatories are a huge NO for IBD patients as it can cause GI bleeds, and sometimes a muscle relaxer (I was on that on top of a narcotic when I had my periods. it was the only thing that kept the IBD related pain at bay).

I hope some other females can help you out. My heart goes out to you. Hugs, Gutless Wonder Woman :heart:

I am glad that you are on a faster tack to surgery...even though I am sorry that you need surgery. I have not heard of abscesses on fallopian tubes, but I have heard of fistulas connecting gut to all sorts of places so I imagine nothing is impossible. Another scan is very important, and then make sure that you do not fall off the radar...You should not have to wait until permanent damage is done to your tube before you get medical attention.

Please keep us posted. I hope you are feeling better soon,
Lisa

I def have IBD BUT DOCS still in the process of dx which one...however 3 weeks ago I had emergency surgery because 2parts of my bowels were stuck to other parts of the body and I had an overian cyst and my one flopian tube was flaming red. They never said If that was from IBD but they did put me on antibotics. Good luc!
