I'm curious how people know the difference between their typical, day-to-day symptoms of Crohn's and when something is actually wrong. I have such a hard time telling, and I feel like my GI's nurse gets annoyed when I call more than occasionally.
I wasn't cognizant of any symptoms when I was first diagnosed -- I chalked my fatigue, loss of appetite, and bloating/constipation up to the stress of exams, not eating right, and exercising less. It came as a huge shock to find out that I had a 2-inch abscess.
I have a hard time recognizing symptoms since surgery last year b/c I have a really high pain tolerance and push myself too muc. I'm currently experiencing nausea, fatigue, bloating/constipation, and some abdominal pain when I try to lift my right leg. Most symptoms can be explained away, but my pain when lifting my leg has me a little perplexed.
I played in an intensely physical powderpuff football tournament (girls' flag football) on Sunday, and spent every play literally slamming into other players (purposely) or diving for flags and hitting the ground hard. Both legs have been slightly sore since Sunday, but my left leg has markedly improved. My right leg is a different story. While walking is fine, I can barely lift my 6 inches off the ground without sending pain up into my abdomen - particularly the location where I had two drains and surgery.
It's difficult to tell the difference between being just sore from the game and possibly having something wrong, especially since the nausea and bloating/constipation came after the game.
Any thoughts on how you tell the difference between your symptoms or what you think might be happening in my case would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping I'm just really sore and will improve over the next few days.
