I have been doing relatively well with my crohns for awhile now until the past 6-8 weeks. I am seeing my gastro doc today and hoping he has some suggestions, but I am nervous about taking any crohns meds. I am 33.5 weeks pregnant, almost there, but am unsure about taking any crohns meds while pregnant...the only thing I have taken during my pregnancy is anti-nausea and tylenol. I know my doctor usually puts me on Pentesa, which is relatively safe I think at this point, but are there any long term effects on children whose parents took crohns meds while pregnant...does it mess with their intestines long term or make them more likely to end up with our illness? I don't unwish me, but I would never wish this on anyone else let alone my child. My symptoms are not horrible...some pain, but not constant, blood counts aren't anywhere as bad as they have been in the past...10.8 and 26, which I have been much lower than that. Also, I had surgery last January, which I am healed from, but am having pain in the upper area where one of my strictures was removed...I am unsure if it is the start of a new stricture or if it the baby pushing against that area? Anyone that has any experience in this area, I would appreciate it!

Thanks...I talked with my doctor a bit, but your article is a bit more reassuring since everything I was finding about entocort was listing it as a class c drug during pregnancy, but according to your article it is not desired, but ok to take. Thank you

CCFA is a trustworthy source but of course your doctor knows your medical history best. I would go along with their suggestion.

I fell pregnant during a crohns flare in August 2012...I was advised to stay on my Azathioprine whilst pregnant, but after around 3 months I was able to decrease with the support of my consultant and Im now medication (and symptom) free. I wish I could bottle pregnancy hormones, they make me so well!
