I was diagnosed with crohns approx eight year ago. Long story short, i have had to try the remicade as all else failing. developed abscess and fistula. no fun. any way, i was told to do the benadryl for the first inf but forgot the second. they stopped inf for iv benadryl. it worked. but after about three days i had developed problems swallowing and my left side from neck, chest shoulder and right down the entire arm to fingers. WTF?! NOTHING helps and i am typing like a one year old due to the excruciating pain. I have tried even oxy ten and muscle relaxers from a previous spinal fusion and I may have well used baby asprin. HELP! what to do?:ybatty:

You need to contact your on call GI and explain what is going on. If you have any type of reaction within the first seven days the guidelines day to contact doctor immediately. If that is not possible a trip to the ER may be needed.

My son received a paper after each infusion giving us a guideline of what to do if reactions occur within 25 hours, within 7 days and from there on out.

Oh my gosh, that sounds a lot like a severe allergic reaction to me. Contact your GI and see what they say -- otherwise it sounds like you need to go to the hospital.

Ask your GI for an antibody test. If you're that allergic you may want to consider switching to Humira. (Which, if you're considered about the fistula: I've used it for mine and it was so, so much better than Remicade for me and even closed it.)
