Texas Children’s Hospital, Huston

As some of you on this forum may know, my 5 year old son was diagnosed with mild to mod crohns in the colon. We have scheduled an MRI to check the small bowl for crohns as well. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge and comfort this forum has provided.

I am looking for a second opinion and see the Texas Children’s Hospital in Huston is rated #4 on the US news and report list. Does anyone have experience with this hospital? We live in Tampa, Fl and making occasional trips to Huston would be much easier that flying to PA or OH. Thank you in advance.

I think we had a mom in the past who took her son to Texas Children's, but I can't think of anyone on here who takes their kiddo there now.

CHOA (in Atlanta) is also well known and has a good pediatric IBD program.

i am glad you got in at CHOP!

Just wanted to add in case someone else reads this that if you can't travel to a CHOP, CINCY or BCH etc, look for a closer hospital that participates in Improve Care Now. This is a network if IBD centers who share research, cases, experience etc.. They even have national meetings for all the participating hospitals to attend.

O's hospital participates and when she decided to spend the summer in Texas, her GI was able to get an improve care now gi near where she will be involved. It is a good network.
