We had my family dinner today. I've been nauseous all day, so I took some containers to bring some home for later. I sat with the family, with my empty plate while everyone ate. They all understood, but my dad, of course. He reminded me how my mom cooked all night and I'm not even trying it. I reminded HIM that it's not like I'm abstaining because I don't appreciate or like the food. If I eat a bite, I'll puke. I ended up eating one piece of ham and was doubled over in pain and had to come home to take a phenergan. Hoping I get an appetite at some point tonight for the leftovers because I start my elimination diet tomorrow. It's just not Thanksgiving without my mom's casseroles. :(

I'm sorry you had to deal with that on Thanksgiving. I'm glad the rest of your family gets it and hope one day maybe your Dad will as well!

Hugs

I'm sory, that sucks when someone is watching every bite you eat, or don't eat. I don't trust people's cooking (especially their stuffing/dressing) so I usually fake I'm eating. That usually involves lots of help washing dishes, refilling dishes and empty drink glasses, etc. I rarely sit down at the table the whole time as people are eating. I've learned if you sit for a few minutes, then get up, sit back down, get up, etc people lose track of my plate. I despise people watching over my dinner plate.

Aside from the food issues, did you have a good time? I enjoy Thanksgiving less for the food and more for the good time and new memories. Hope you were able to make some good memories despite not feeling great.

We did have a good time together as a family. The kids loved playing with their cousins. And I finally got to eat my lunch around 4pm with minimal pain!
