...When they have to endure those long hospital stays. When they are at the infusion centre. When they are home sick from school. During those long car/plane trips to appointments. When it is a rainy weekend, a fun family night or during those long vacation times!

It doesn't have to be only what your IBD child enjoys. :)

And it surely isn't limited to the following suggestions:

Movies
TV shows
A fab book or series of books
Magazines
Boardgames
Card games
Electronic games
Puzzles, jigsaw and otherwise
Just games full stop!
Apps
Music
Gadgets
Toys

They can be wild and whacky or informative and educational and everything in-between!

Just give a general age group and a brief (or long!) description and/or review.

That's Entertainment!
Dusty. :)

The rush hour puzzle games!

They are for all ages and come in various presentations...cars, safari, trains. It can also be played online. Fab and addictive entertainment for one!

Killer Bunnies!

Great family entertainment card game for age 12+, although to me 8 and up is fine if your kids are into card games. You start with a starter deck and then there are loads of expansion packs if you wish purchase more. If you are a tad geekish then this game is very addictive!...

Haha...us too! Teens= technology..Ipad and texting and they are good to go. Although, while inpatient and all her friends were in school and off line, we had some youth leader friends visit O and give her manicures.

Homework for infusion...I know...mean mommy!

Oh yeah the child life people brought craft kits around but O wasn't much interested but could be a fun way to pass the time.

When my kids were young and unruly, we played the Frozen Statue game... whoever could act like a statue the longest got a prize! ;) Unfortunately, they soon realized the game was more for my benefit than theirs!

But, my kids were like Sascots... ipods, gameboys/DS, books. Stephen loved Screech Owl books when he was around 10 years old - mystery series but the 'good guys' are actually a hockey team (players about 10-12 years old) who travel to tournaments and come across mysteries at their tournaments. An extra bonus for him was that the team was a Canadian team... As for authors, Eric Walters was another favourite of Stephen's.

:dance:Grace is entertained when all her royal subject:yfaint: tell her how Pretty Princess Grace is.:queen:
She's a simple girl.:rof:

When my son was feeling really bad earlier this year he played TONS of Minecraft, a computer game reminiscent of Lego. The cool thing about the game is that the code for it is open so anyone can write more code and add a new modification (or "mod") for the game. This lead my 11 year old to become highly motivated to learn the computer coding language Java. So now he spends time playing around with coding. Can't even tell you how unlike me this pursuit of his is!

When we were in the ER I brought sewing books with little girl dress patterns in them.
Grace and I passed the time looking at them and trying to design the perfect princess dress.

Kindle for waiting rooms.
At home:
Video Games (computer or XBox) are a favorite of my sons.
We watch TV and movies for some fun family time when kids too sick to do much more. Since laughter is good for you, we would try for comedies first ... but after years of this I think we have watch almost everything!!
Loaded Questions is a fun board game our family likes (it does not require a board so everyone can sit or lie down anywhere. You just need to be able to pass paper around) My kids all answer very silly ... and it is lots of fun.
Danny also draws or paints.

oh gosh.....I used to bring books (when I was older) - other than that it was sit around and watch whatever was on tv.....made up games to play in the car, also picking out vehicle types, license plates etc...

NOW - with my daughter (7) - she likes to play on the Kindle Fire on road trips - she can read, watch movies, do puzzles, she plays Angry Birds.....she just bought herself 2 chapter books, so I'm hoping she will be able to read 'real' books in the car and not get sick! lol

My 11 year old is also a Minecrafter. He will spend hours watching minecraft videos on youtube, in fact he is on the other computer watching them now.
