Been on humira for a year now, first 6 month's brilliant last six months nothing but a permanent cold and more frequent toilet trips and now cramps that nearly put you on the floor. Im convinced the humira is the culprit. Im getting practically no help from the nhs in fact ive just had a letter from the hospital saying my next appointment has been cancelled and they can't offer me a different date and ive now gone on a waiting list WHAT A WAY TO TREAT A CROHN'S PATIENT OF 28 YEARS! im self medicating from now on

Sorry for the rant guys im pretty pissed off has anyone else had similar issues on humira?

Thanks ive got an appointment with my local gp today, maybe having a rant at her may help me get a little help ?

Dave,

Have you been taking any other medication along with thr Humira ? How are you going to self medicate ?

Please be careful ! Try at least to find a GP who will escort you with the treatment ...

Hope you are back to health soon.

Sulphasalazin keeps the worst of the pain at bay ive got a months persription left of those and then im not sure yet. I just need to get rid of this cold 8 months is way to long.

Ha ha ha the doctor's called and cancelled my appointment for today two hours before I was due to go!!!! NHS ? not fit for purpose. .

Humira on its own isn't strong enough for me, so I'm actually on a combination of Humira and 6mp. I do get cold symptoms from Humira sometimes, though... unfortunately it's the most common side-effect. Are other biologics available? If you were on a biologic already, I worry self-medicating won't be strong enough... the medication you said you would use instead is just a glorified anti-inflammatory, and doesn't actually prevent inflammation like Humira (or an immunosuppressant) would.

Mmn food for thought, anyway went to hospital two days ago and got results yesterday. My ibd doctor now wants me to stop using humira and has referred me to a chest specialist? ? I am now booked in for another colonoscopy at end of august so am going to have a twelve day slot at least on no medication.

This keeps getting better :-(

I don't understand when anyone believes suppressing your immune system is the answer to IBD. Any medication that does that just leaves you open to problems. You should consider actually solving the problem, rather than continuing the path that has most dealing with IBD symptoms. Address the root. Remove the irritants and replace with nutrient baths of veggies, fruit, and water kefir. Sooth those intestines with goodness. Stop eating the western diet.
