Well after being around family over the weekend i have caught the flu. I was going to get an infusion soon but not now. My question is after you all got over the flu, how long before you to go get an infusion? I am at ten weeks already. I don't have any symptoms other than these flu symptoms.

Hello
I have it too and would like the answer.
I think it will be up to the Remicade Coordinator and the doctors as to when the Remicade can be administered after any infection.
It will probably be something like two days to a week after all symptoms have gone.
Just a guess---maybe someone knowledgeable will help us.
I was scheduled to start Remicade next week after a long delay due to other issues.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

Yeah thanks trysha. My PCP said to wait 3 weeks just to be sure everything is calmed down. Hope you feel better also. I am getting there slowly.

you should have a blood test urine test may few days before the infusion (I normally get it 4days before) and this should tell you if you have any signs of infection amongst other things. I know my nurses will look at this, as well as asking how you feel, to decide if you are ok going ahead.

You could always phone up and tell them of your concerns and they may be able to check the tests before you go into hospital to see if you are fine

I was told as long as you don't have any fever you are fine for the remi treatment. Last year I went with flu symptoms and no fever and nothing bad happened.

This is what I was told today also by the Remicade Coordinator.
As long as there is no fever and no antibiotics they will do the infusion this Thursday.
I was told I can defer it to next week if I don't feel up to it.
I have quite a fever at the moment and seems to be increasing, currenty 101 F.
and I feel very achey-----terrible in fact.
Any suggestions for rapid resolution would be appreciated
Hugs Trysha

I have my Remicade infusion and 2 days later ended up in the hospital with the flu and double pneumonia. My doctor said it will be at least 8 weeks until I can get Remicade again. It stinks because I know my last treatment did not work because I was sick and did not realize that I was coming down with something.:stinks:

Well I ended up having my infusion last Thursday 1/17/13. This is after I thought I had a UTI. Turns out today My fistula (Bladder-SB) has returned. I have air in my urine:yfrown:. Hopefully it wont get too bad before i get to the doctor.
