the life of a NI Crohnie

Hey,

i have Crohns Disease and am currently going through my first year at university (Bournemouth). i am in limbo between remission n flare ups. i was diagnosed with crohns disease in November 2008 and have had to have 1 major op in march 2009 that probably saved my life. met the love of my life in January 2009 so she probably saved my life too.

i am currently on tablets that seem to be doing the trick most of the time. tho i have been given several different doses of steroids that at the time are useful but not effective long term.

currently had a hellish year with moving away from home and the upheaval of all that goes with moving country to go to uni. seems to have settled for most of the time except for the stress of exams. :/ nearly finished my first year now.

so all those who doubted me, screw ya's all.

Welcome to the forum Gary!

I to recently went through university while suffering with Crohn's Disease, so I know the unique challenges that can present. You might want to look into seeing if your university has a disability services or other group that can help ensure that special accomodations can be made if needed due to your disease (i.e. writing a room in a room alone close to a washroom, being accomodated if you hand in items late due to sickness, etc.).

Good luck finishing up exams and try not to stress too much!

Are you staying in Bournemouth for the Summer? the beach is lovely there, if we get some sun! And the sun would certainly boost your vitamin D up!

I feel for all you young'uns going thru Uni and the stress and coping with CD. Hope you can keep things under control, and thankfully you have the love of your life to help you thru!

Going through college while battling this disease is definitely difficult! Good for you! Stress just makes everything worse, so make sure that you take some time for you. Congratulations on completely your freshman year! I'm a senior now, and I have no clue how that happened
