So DS started flagyl on Monday - no improvement yet
How long till things improve ?
Gi has us updating on Monday .
I am impatient .
DS is just plain exhausted.

Sorry, no advice (S did flagyl by IV).

But, I hope it kicks in soon so you both get a break!!!

Not to mention we want the Flagyl to work because the GI's theory is infection is causing all his problems and we don't like the other theories!

Sending loads of Fast Flagyl vibes your way!

Took a week to work for M. Hope it starts to work for him SOON :ghug:

We usually notice some change after a few doses. Big improvement after 5-7 days. What is his dose? A is on 250mg 3x/day.

That seems like a very reasonable dose. I'd wait until Monday, but if no improvement then maybe a medication change is needed. I am impatient too. We can be impatient together. You are ahead of us on this Flagyl journey. We started on Tuesday night. We are to update the GI on Friday though. We already have a plan B. Or maybe it is a plan A and B.....not sure, lol.

When my daughter was on flagyl last fall I think it took about 5 days before it kicked in and she started feeling better. The doctor told me that was typical.

Agree, normally about 5-7 days where Crohn’s is concerned mlp.

Can’t speak from personal experience though as Matt’s was used more as a stabilising effect than anything else.

So hope it works for your lad. Fingers toes and everything else crossed! Good luck!

Sorry, somehow totally missed your reply. I'm so sorry things aren't better yet. So tough for him and you. :ghug: hope the GI can suggest an alternative. Lots of hugs and thoughts!

DS finished the ten day course of flagyl this morning

Now we wait
Gi wants to know if he gets better , worse or stays the same over the next week or so
One to rule out flagyl side effects
Two to rule out GI bug that hit the rest of the family
Three to determine next course of action if the flagyl worked or not

Of course no flagyl tonight and his bum was back to burning but he was able to have a BM without miralax -that never ever happens

So we are loading him up on probiotics ( vsl #3)
We didn't stop for the flagyl but at least the good stuff has a chance to stick now so to speak

I hope your lad is okay mlp and you get clear cut answers and a way forward. :ghug:

Thinking of you.

We ended up with a 7 day course of Flagyl. A is mostly better...but that may be thanks to the Prednisone. Would you consider a short burst of Prednisone to see if that helps things?

Gi hasn't said what the next steps would be yet -
Probably not pred since all of his test results ( blood mre and scopes ) are normal and no sign of inflammtion -even his arthritis is at baseline so....
We wait for a week and then work on plan b depending
Also GI thinks infection so pred would be the opposite end if it's an infection

Waiting and watching is the pits. :ghug:

But I will happily keep you company mlp.
