Hi everyone
I really need some advice.. Here the situations..
I have crohns 8 years since being 16.. I was put on azathorprine .. Started to get sore throats nothing I couldn't really deal with and nose bleed!!:

About four years ago I was put on two Injections on humira plus the one tablet of azathorprine to control it. Thankfully it well under control now :)

However for many years I had nothing but trouble with my tonsils to the stage it's every month..
It gets me down affects every part of my life!. I get tonsilitis really bad to the fact I am on antibiotic every month.

I am going to see a throat specialist to see about having them out which I feel will be bad enough to take out.

My concern is.: if I have them out will this cause more problems with my crohns and infections.

I guess my question is is anyone else suffering like this?
Has anyone else decided to have them taken out?.

And how has ir gone after having them taken out as I can't carry on like this :(

I had my tonsils taken out when I was three and since being on some Crohn's medications, I have had a sore throat, but it has not ever been infected. I think it could be allergies, in all honesty, but I don't know. I also have EGE, which could contribute to some of this. Mouth ulcers, even though they are not a sore throat/tonsilitis, are extraintestinal manifestations of CD.

Welcome to the forum. You can ask your GI if you should stop the humira for getting tonsils out to prevent infection but most likely they won't and will just have you take antibiotics to prevent an infection. Beyond the risk of removal I dont think removing your tonsils will make you any more prone to CD issues.

I spoke my consultant but no one really wants to give me a good answer to if this is the best decision and if it will cause more complicated .. But I don't seek to get any further on. So I was wondering it anyone had the same problem :)

DS had his tonsils out last year while on humira . He was only 9 at the time .
We simply skipped one humira dose so that his throat had a little more time to heal.
It's been over a year and no issues crohn's or throat wise .

Hope your docs have answers .

Oh really! That's really reassuring as I do get every cold every bug going normally as my immune system lowered a lot!..

That was my only concern the problem going else where
