Hi..

Really need someone help now...I'm in a very bad shape...Very much in pain...Was diagnosed as Crohn's in March and was takig medication. After that, slowly gained weight and was doing fine until 2mths ago, started to loose weight again and my ESR level became high. The pain and suffering all started back again. Doctor hv started me on prednisolone again after tapering it down and my symptoms hv not improved. When i start to eat something, while the food is going to my stomach i'll have a very bad pain which stops me from eating. Doctor have now suggested for Infliximab ( imuran) injection. Can anyone advise me whether does it work? Any side effects from it? How long does it last? Any pain while taking the injections? I'm still not convinced in taking the injection and also its very expensive. Can anyone help me here? Any ways to reduce the inflammation in the body?

Its rough going through all the doctors want you to, thats the way they did me. First this then that, finally they decided meds were not working and went for surgery.

Thats the basic course for everyone if the meds do not work its surgery. So if the meds are not working for you, hopefully either you'll discuss surgery with them or they will discuss it with you. It all comes down to how long you want to keep trying the meds, some might work.

Hi Lily, i was in the same boat as you less than 2 weeks ago. i had lost weight, couldn't eat without pain and was put on prednisone. the doctors put me on infliximab and the effect has been unbelievable. its effects will vary for different people but within 3 days of the first injection i was almost back to 100% "normal" me. no real side effects that ive noticed, the injection takes about 3 hours and only hurts when they stick the IV injection thing in. its worked wonders for me and if you do go down the infliximab route it could do the same for you. like i said though everyone is different, hope you get better soon

For a longer term approach to pain management, you may want to try taking some Ginger, Turmeric, and Fish or Krill Oil supplements.

All of these are antiinflammatory, and may help if used regularly.

They will not bring any immediate pain relief, but over time may reduce the inflammation that causes most of the pain and other problems.

They also have numerous other good properties for general health too numerous to go into here.

All of these have a slight blood thinning effect so if you are taking a bloob thinner you should consult a doctor. Also check for any other interaction with any medications you are using.
