hello everybody,

I decided to join because I really could use some support right now from people that actually know how it is like to live with Crohn's. My husband was diagnosed with Crohn's over 14 years ago and now the doctor says he needs to have a resection of a small portion of the small bowel( we don't know how much yet) so anyway he has two fistulas in the small bowell one going through the large intestine and the other one to the bladder. He also has a stricture. He's in a lot of pain. So the Doctor recommended TPN for a few weeks before setting a date for the surgery. I'm really worry, I love him so much... Could anybody share their experiences going through all of this? Thank you a lot!

Hi, you might want to check out this support group: http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=48675

It's for people with a spouse who has Crohn's, so there are people posting there who are in your situation.

Your husband obviously has a lot to deal with, but surgeries can sometimes bring a lot of relief to people with Crohn's. Once he's got through the hard part of recovering, it may well be that he's a lot better than he is now.

I haven't any experience of TPN myself, but this forum has an information page on it here: http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=23607
