Hello all from a wet FNQ,

My husband recently visited a Chinese Medicine Doctor. The Dr gave him a mix of dried herbs to be made into a drink & taken daily. The change has been quite remarkable. He currently takes 75mg of mercaptopurine daily & was suffering with fatigue and poor health before commencement of the TCM. He claims his energy levels are fantastic & he feels great.
He also had what his GI believed to be scar tissue from recurring perianal abscesses. He has told me that it has gone. He also has trouble shifting minor ailments since commencing the mercaptopurine. He has suggested my husband taper off the mercaptopurine (slowly) & see how he feels. His next GI appointment isn't until June as i guess they believe him to be in remission.
I am very happy to see my husband feeling the best he has for almost 2 years. He's gained a little weight & seems happier. I should also add that a friends friends (a male Paramedic in his 40's) was also diagnosed with CD last year & has also been treated by the same Chinese Medicine Dr & refused to take the medicine prescribed be his GI due to side effects & according to my friend he is doing great too.
So to finish up i was just wanting to know if anyone else has been treated with TCM & should he taper? Thanks everyone :):)

Hi BMwife, I just saw your post on my thread. I just replied, so check it out! Basically, I am in love with TCM, and I am hoping that I taper off all of my meds by the end of this year. I am probably going to update my thread every once in a while just to show progress. Please keep us updated on your husband, glad he's feeling better :)

Hi Bmwife.

I have been battling with Crohn's Disease since 1996 and I saw your thread just today. I tried TCM in the past with excellent results, but unfortunately my dr. left the country and I cannot contact him. After many years and internet research I found a doctor based in the UK (I live in Greece!) and I am thinking of visiting him. The thing is that I have no feedback about this doctor. Considering that it is a long trip and the cost is extremely high I would like to know a few things about him (i.e. efficiency of treatment), but I don't know how. Do you think that if I give you his name, you could ask your husband's Dr.?

Thank you in advance.

i've been playing with acupuncture ideas lately. It's different than needles, in that I'm doing more of the old finger acupuncture that was originally done by the Chinese. My energy levels have risen wonderfully as a result.

To be honest though I've also been on a strict diet that has been helping my stomach. It could be coincidence that the acupuncture has reduced the fatigue. I'm unsure if it the diet changes or the acupuncture ideas that have helped. What ever it is I'm planning to continue with the Chinese acupuncture chi/ energy. It is easy to do. I'm greatly enjoying the extra get up and go.

As far as i know the biodiversity of plants etc in china is pretty remarkable and the system of medicine has been developed over thousands of years versus our 200-300 years for the current system, none of this is proof of superiority over one another, but you have to wonder if TCM has its place somewhere as a complimentary to our modern system, it's very likely. I even just read some scientist's talk about an "energy field" around the body and even extra sensory system for magnetic fields humans may have, makes you think they may someday really acknowledge and accept things like acupuncture. I use an herb called japanese knotweed known as "Hu Zhang" in TCM which is high in something called resveratrol, it really does supress some of my symptoms but I have to get the dosage right it only requires a very small amount to be effective. I use alot of stuff but this one is one of the most powerful in my arsenal, i also use lialda. more info https://examine.com/supplements/japanese-knotweed/

Hi BMwife, my husband has also just commenced TCM and I am wondering how yours is going now, still good?
Hello
He's ok. A small flare in the middle of the year but ok at the moment. How is your husband finding it?

He has been on the herbs for 7 days now and so far so good. We are trying not to get our hopes up but we are secretly excited.....his fatigue has improved quite a bit and he hasn't had any diarhoea at all since he started. I am praying that this continues as his fatigue was so bad he was thinking that he might have to give up work!
