Anybody out there with any suggestions ...

Have a son who has been presenting sypmtoms of IBD since around age 11-now is 24. Has seen any number of docs who are convinced he has Crohn's and have sent him to gastroenterologists who have performed a complete battery of tests- does not clinically show up. Continues to be extraordinarily uncomfortable and weight loss is becoming a major issue- now around 6'2 and hovering between 140-145 lbs. Any body know of any phenomenal diagnosticians who deal with these "tough cases"- any where in the central atlantic up through northeast coast of US.

Symptoms have included:

Mouth ulcers
Diarrhea
Late Growth
Weight Loss
Low white blood cell count
Fatigue
Nausea
Low grade fever

Unfortunately I don't know any doctors in your area. Maybe you could check out Mayo Clinic. I've heard people on the forum mention it before and they've all said good things about it. I know there's one in Florida and Arizona but there may be others check out their web site: http://www.mayoclinic.com/

Welcome to the forum! There are many people on this site who are undiagnosed. It can sometimes take a while unfortunately. :(

Hi Laurain and welcome! Your son's symptoms do align with Crohn's. However, in my experience, doctors are very hesitant to make a diagnosis without positive lab results regardless of symptoms.

I agree with Crabby that the Mayo Clinic would be able to deal with tough cases. However, more locally would be John's Hopkins. You are near one of the best teaching hospitals in the country, so why not start there?

I sure hope your son can get answers soon, so he can start feeling better.
