Hi everyone. Just found this board researching my disease and the new drug my doctor wants me on.

I was diagnosed with UC in 2004, been on asacol 500mg 3 tabs 3x a day. And 3 1/3 tabs of the 6mp.

I thought I was doing good, no noticable symptons acting up, no flare ups. Then I just had a colonoscophy and was told the UC is still very active and doctor wants me to try humira shots.

Wondering is anyone on this for colitis?

I'm researching them now but would like to get some peoples experience.

With me I also am being treating for depression (lexapro, abilify and lamictal) and diabetes (glucotrol) and am on the asacol and 6mp too. Also one for blood pressure which is also now under control. I was just told of the possible interactions, but I'll be highly monitored on this.

I wanted to try to improve my UC by cleaning up my diet which I have and exercise, but should I seriously give this a shot (no pun intended)?

Guess this post is not to question my doctors recommendation, but is more geared toward getting other peoples experience with this.

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us. :)

You should check out the Humira subforum here. There is a lot of good information from other people using Humira. Not until just last year in October, Humira was finally approved for use in people with UC, whereas it had already been approved for Crohn's disease. Because of this, many people with UC have not tried it until now and had only been given the option of Remicade as far as the big-time medicines.

I have not tried Humira myself, but there are plenty on this board who have. Here is the link for the Humira subforum:

Definitely make another post over there as well. Again, welcome to the forum!!
