ugh pain, puke, and panic

Its 4 am and I just awoke to 10 minutes of straight puking. I see that I puked up what appears to be the sunflowers seeds and other nut pieces I ate earlier. Throughout the night I have had bad pain, and even now after I have thrown up I still feel like a i have a knot in my stomach, haven't experienced that before, I really don't know what that is, but I don't like it and hope it goes away.

uh oh, sorry to hear that Hippie.

you may have caused a little blockage with the nuts/seeds.. hopefully it will abate now that you've been sick.. just keep on fluids, hot water preferably...

hope you're ok soon.

ding i hope thats the case and its not the sign of an obstruction (never had one, don't want one). thanks for your support, I may be the only up in the US right now, its good to have an international forum to come to for support.

ding is right, nuts and seeds are a no no for a cronnie. i had some fresh coconut and spent the night in hospital. sharon xx

I so miss salted peanuts mmmmmmm. I treat myself every christmas and promptly regret it lol

I was somewhat similar before I ended up in the hospital with the stricture, it was causing an obstruction (not total I guess) by blocking larger things and was very painful, made me puke alot. I'd get it checked out.

The thing is I soaked the nuts and seeds for several hours before, I figured it would be ok since they were relatively soft. Whatever, I think I learned my lesson. It really sucks, because I need them as a good source of protein. Maybe I can grind them up into a powder. I am gonna go shopping and get some soft foods like apple sauce. I don't want the pleasure of being up all night barfing again and covering my stomach for heat.

Which brings me to another question - heating pads. Do you think those could potentially be dangerous, I don't know the thought of putting a burning thing over an inflammation seems like it could worsen the condition long term.

nuts are a good source of protein, but you might be better off with commercially prepared nut butter. if you make them yourself they can be too chunky and cause problems. there are a lot off good natural nut butters out there!

as for heating pads, i use mine all the time. i even sleep with it, even though it's a fire/choking hazard. it's one of the only things that gives me relief from cramps or aches. i'm not sure if it would make inflammation worse, though. never heard that. ask your doc, maybe?

feel better soon.

Heating pads and hot baths seem to settle my inflammation down. Never thought about it increasing the inflammation.

Personally my stomach and surrounding areas are always BURNING UP when I'm experiencing pain or a bad day. Just seriously hot. I think I could cook an egg on there. Using a heating pad would curdle whatever was in there. I actually seem to fare a bit better when it's cold. I could be misreading it though, I've only known about this disease for about 2 months.

ttyon, I can see what you mean. Sometimes when I have a lot of pain I get a low grade fever I guess. I feel flushed all over and then get nauseous. At first it seemed like crazy hot flashes, then I realized it only happened when I had a lot of pain (ongoing pain anyway). But, the heating pad still helps the spot on my tummy that hurts the most.

Yeah, I'm running a constant 99.5 fahrenheit fever or so, but I think it might be from my iron deficiency anemia, which is also causing me to have a pulse around 100-120 at all times, so I think my body is just generally unstable. I'm in early treatment stages though and am only taking 5-ASA and am trying to fix my anemia with iron, so you guys probably have already dealt with any of this stuff a long time ago.

i sleep with my heating pad too :)
i find it to relax my tummy, especially right after having a bowel movement when my intestines are still spazzing out.

im on a diet called the specific carb diet and a lot of it incorporates ground nuts, also called nut flours. suprise you can actually make baked goods out of just nuts, who knew? lol
from my experience with the nut flours i say BE CARFUL! some of the stuff is really coarse and i guess i ate too much of it one day and i was pooing it out for 5 days striaght! no kidding.
i recently found some finer grain though and it seems to be tolerated better.
hope youre nausea and cramps are feelin a bit better :)

this disease is so weird, today i had no pain, all of a sudden 5 minutes burst of really bad pain, now its mild. what the heck, is this like a storm that came through and im fine now? i really dont this at all. bite me CD.

Hi hippie. A partial obstruction may cause symptoms like the ones you're having. Maybe you shoudl go on a liquid diet for now, and if things don't get better I suggest you talk to your doctor. Good Luck
