I had my gallbladder out a week ago. Yesterday, I was super nauseous all day and today I've got the liquid diarrhea (as opposed to my 'normal' unformed, but not liquid, D). I'm praying this is just my body adjusting to not having a gallbladder, and not the Crohn's kicking back up. I am about 95% of the way to remission on Cimzia and Apriso. Hopefully the surgery didn't screw that up for me. No pain or blood yet. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's not a flare.

BTW, anyone else feel like nausea is THE worst symptom of this damn disease?? I'd rather be in the bathroom 15 times a day with pain and blood than be nauseous. Too bad I don't get to choose and end up with both. At least the nausea meds work for me. I didn't have any with me at work yesterday, so I had to suffer. But I took a phenergan as soon as I got home and brought Zofran with me to work today (can't take the phenergan at work-it knocks me out). So far, so good, though.

Youve had major surgery with your gallbladder, im confident thats why you feel nautious!

Good so see your so close to remission. Im about the same as you, 95% :-D

Yes, nausea can definitely be one of the worst parts of this disease. Whether it's from the actual crohns, or the medications, it's horrible. I can deal with pain fairly well, diarrhea is second nature to me, and I really can't complain about the weight loss. But the nausea... I can't deal with it. I would rather go through almost anything else than throw up or be super nauseated. I'm terrified of puke. Absolutely terrified. I take zofran every single day, and before that I lived on gravol (through this flare, anyways.) I've accidentally overdosed on gravol so many times, just cuz I want the nausea to go away so bad. When I start a new medication, the first thing I ask is "is it gonna make me nauseas?" I'm more worried about that then the possibility of cancer or liver failure. It's ridiculous.

Your nausea is probably due to the surgery though. Not a flare. I'm not 100% on that, obviously, but your body just went through a huge change, and nausea is a pretty common response to stuff like that. I wouldn't worry too much unless you start throwing up non stop or the nausea becomes unbearable and not controlled by the meds. Good luck!

Having your gallbladder out changes how the bile in your body gets into your digestive system and it sometimes takes a bit to get back to where everything works right.

When I had my gallbladder out, I lost 60lbs in five months. Not complaining as it was mostly prednisone weight.

My daughter had cancer when she was four - ganglioneuroblastoma. Sorry, just so glad I can remember the name! I got her when she was a teen and am in the process of adopting her now. I wasn't around when she was ill, but I know they removed her gallbladder, her spleen and the tail of her pancreas. The tail grew back as she was so young. The thing is that they had her on digestive enzymes for a while after the surgeries. Her father didn't keep up with them as he was supposed to. To this day she has liquid D everyday. Going to the bathroom for her is always #1 & #2, but she didn't know how unusual that was until I took her and she realized that my digestion wasn't normal and her's is very like mine.

I guess this is my long winded way to say that not having your gallbladder can sometimes really mess with your poo schedule.

And yes, being nauseated sucks!

Hi Steph! I sure hope it is not your Crohn's acting up, and its just your body recovering from the surgery. But if it continues, you may want to phone your doctor to be sure.

Hi Steph! I had my gallbladder out ten years ago, and it did take a while for my bowels to become regular (well, as regular as they could be- LOL!). I remember having nausea and of all things heartburn, for a while afterward. If you have red flag warnings of a CD flare-up, see your doctor ASAP, if not your body is adjusting to a life without gall. Best wishes to you!

Y'all are right-I'm probably worried about nothing. No nausea today and just some mild cramping-like pain. Nothing to write home about. I'm sure my body is just sorting out how to digest food without the gallbladder. It's only been 9 days, so I need to give it some time. Not much I could do if it's a flare anyway. We just recently adjusted my Cimzia to one shot every 2 weeks, which I started last week. Hmmm...I didn't think about that. I only got one shot instead of my usual two on Friday. Maybe that has something to do with it. I refuse to take pred, so that's out of the question. I just need to be patient.
