Hi all
Can you let me know what suppliers you are using, I'm currently using charter health care for a one piece drainable convex and have been quite happy for 18months but have asked them for some other convex samples but they won't send me any only the current one I'm using.

Will they not send you anything else because they need a prescription?

I use AlphaMed suppliers and they are great. I ask for it, they get the prescription for me, delivered the next day. 0800 515 317

But, I called all the manufacturers direct for samples, as its not the suppliers that send free samples.

They all have websites, coloplast, hollister, convatec, dansac. They are very helpful, and most of their advisors are ostomates themselves.

They said they couldn't send the convex ones as I need to see my stoma nurse and get her to authorise me to have convex even though I currently use them and they supply them!!
I'll try some of the ones above and see if they're more helpful

Michelle just had this happen to her! I wonder if something has changed in our lovely NHS lately. I have changed manufacturers twice since I had Stan and never had a problem, but.....it could be that the NHS has changed guidelines in the last 6 months.

Wouldnt hurt to ring the stoma nurses to find out.

Yeah this is a weird one. I use fittleworth and they will send me out samples no problem. I tried to order some accessories and they had to ok it with the stoma nurse.

Then I tried to order some slightly different bags.. same brand just a two piece instead of one and they were like 'but you usually order this'. So I told them that I got some samples from them and I liked them better so she was all.. 'oh ok, I see that here.. how many boxes would you like?' And it was all ok.

They will send me out samples fine though.. are you sure they were aware you just wanted a sample?
